Format and pretty-print JSON with validation and clear error messages.
Use JSON Formatter
How to use this tool
- Paste JSON into the input box.
- Select Run tool. Valid JSON is parsed and displayed with two-space indentation.
- Review the output, then use Copy output if you want to paste it elsewhere.
Formatting valid JSON
JSON requires double-quoted property names and strings. Trailing commas and comments are not accepted by this formatter. Formatting improves readability; it does not prove that the data has the correct fields for your application. Parsing can also change the representation of duplicate keys or very large numbers, so keep the original when exact source preservation matters.
Example
The input {"name":"Sample","active":true} is displayed over multiple lines with indented properties. An unquoted property name causes a syntax error.
Questions about this tool
Can this validate my API schema?
It checks JSON syntax by parsing the input. It does not check required fields or application-specific rules.
Does the formatter support comments?
No. Remove comments and trailing commas before running the standard JSON formatter.
